Rex

November 18, 2016 by

Today at 1:05pm Rex with the assistance of Home to Heaven peacefully passed away at home with his family, he was approximately 15 years old. Rex was rescued from the Denver Dumb Friends League by my sister Kim and her three children Lily, Emerson and Eli. He lived and was loved by them for 3 years. Realizing how special an animal he was and knowing there was a void in my life, in an altruistic act they gave him to me. Rex was the greatest gift I ever received so to them I say thank you very much.

Rex and I were inseparable over the last 10 years. From our nightly walks, drives to the grocery store, socializing at the dog park, fishing, camping, hiking and of course my weekly poker game he went everywhere with me. Where ever we lived or traveled he was loved by all who came in contact with him, both humans and animals alike. It was his look and his strut that on many occasions would cause people to affectionately dub him with the name Sexy Rexy.

Rex his whole life was a healthy, happy, intelligent, loving animal. In so many ways through his actions he was one of the greatest teachers I ever had. He taught me the true meaning of compassion, patients and unconditional love; I will do my best to honor him and continue practicing what he taught me and I hope I make him proud.

Rex and I realize the people who have known him send there condolences and we are both moved and thankful. If you truly feel a need to express your sympathies at this time we ask that you do so in one of two ways, either make a small donation of food or money to a local humane society or just go out and take a very slow walk through your neighborhood smelling every flower, stop sign and light pole along the way, Rex was able to find the beauty in all of it and if you try you will realize what he saw.

Rex has made me a better person, he is a part of my soul and therefore I will always have a part of him with me. He was the Dahli Lama of the dog world.

REX… THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING!
